The reorganization process decided by the members has begun with the help of funding from progres.nrw
TZWL entered the business field of testing (residential) ventilation appliances when it was founded on December 14, 1999. In the early years, there were only a few device tests, manufacturers and suppliers in the market segment and the technology was little known. Now, 20 years later, the residential ventilation market has a strong momentum of its own, with many manufacturers and suppliers and a wide variety of appliance technologies.
In the early years, appliance testing was a national issue, but today it is widely used and recognized throughout Europe and internationally. In recent years in particular, the dynamic development has continued, partly due to political decisions.
TZWL is facing up to the changes and put its first, newly designed test bench for recording fan characteristics, also known as a ventilation test bench, into operation at the end of 2020. This test bench was supported with funding from the “Program for Rational Energy Use, Renewable Energies and Energy Saving” (progres.nrw) – Program Area Market Launch (progres.nrw – Market Launch)” of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Arnsberg District Government, as well as a donation from Sparkasse Dortmund. We would like to thank the sponsors and donors.
As part of the overall concept, further test facilities will be modernized by the end of 2022. The modernization and new construction of further test benches, e.g. for ventilation units in accordance with DIN 18017, is planned.
With the new test bench, TZWL is able to carry out all normative and common measurements for recording fan characteristics. This means that TZWL can continue to provide its customers with state-of-the-art technology and expertise gained from more than 30 years of experience. As part of the “TZWL 2020” programme, this was the first step towards the comprehensive modernization of the test facilities and the relaunch of a new test center.
At the Dortmund site, TZWL tests domestic ventilation units on test benches accredited to DIN EN ISO 17025 in accordance with DIN EN 13141-7/-8 and other test regulations. The test results form the basis for applying for a type approval from the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) in Berlin, for applying for a certificate from the Passive House Institute (PHI) in Darmstadt or for further development of the device technology by the manufacturer. Tests carried out at TZWL also meet European requirements.
As a non-profit association, TZWL has also set itself the task of informing private customers about the climate-friendly technology of domestic ventilation and presenting them with eligible devices with the relevant test results. With this in mind, TZWL publishes a large number of devices with their official test results in the home ventilation information portal on its website.
