About TZWL

The TZWL is based in Schwerte (formerly Dortmund) and, as one of three test centers accredited by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt), tests domestic ventilation units on its test benches. We publish the results of recognized tests of all test centers in the Infoportal Wohnungslüftung (IPW) and in the TZWL-eBulletin, list for domestic ventilation units with and without heat recovery.

The latest from TZWL and the world of domestic ventilation

In our news section, we inform you about our current publications, our research activities and the latest developments in controlled domestic ventilation.

The Test Center for Residential Ventilation Units (TZWL) e. V.

The TZWL is a registered, non-profit association and is based in Schwerte (until the end of 2023 in Dortmund).

Members of the association are exclusively private individuals, often with a close relationship or a history with Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, as well as the company Schrezenmaier Kältetechnik GmbH & Co KG in Schwerte, which also guarantees the proper operation of the test benches. Without memberships from manufacturers or suppliers from the ventilation industry, the association guarantees confidential and independent services at all times.

The most important business area is the accredited test center for (residential) ventilation units. We are one of three test centers recognized by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) to test residential ventilation units on our own test benches. In addition to the DIBt, the tests are also used for certification by the Passive House Institute (PHI) in Darmstadt. TZWL is also recognized in Europe and internationally with its accredited device tests. The testing services also include cooperation with manufacturers in the development of appliances.

A second mainstay of the TZWL is the publication of the results of accredited tests carried out by recognized testing bodies on behalf of manufacturers in the Infoportal Wohnungslüftung (IPW) and in the TZWL eBulletin, a list of domestic ventilation units with and without heat recovery. Both media are also recognized by funding bodies in the field of domestic ventilation.

Its closest cooperation partner is Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Since its foundation, TZWL has trained many graduate engineers and Bachelor’s and Master’s students. The current management of TZWL has also found its way to us largely through this cooperation.

Another partner is DMT GmbH und Co KG, a TÜV NORD GROUP company. Together with these strong partners, we offer manufacturers and clients a wide range of services for many different types of devices that go far beyond pure device testing.

TZWL also works with a partner to create independent ventilation concepts in accordance with DIN 1946, is involved in standards work and is a well-known contact for research and development in the field of ventilation.
